You're mad

This is how it happened :"I took a bunch of ex Ad men and said lets go digital, we have all the skills, crikey we have been doing this for years."

They all groaned and moaned about the good old days. Champagne and huge clients with unlimited budgets.

Pepsi, TESCO, Mercedes, Shell Petroleum, and oh dear British American Tobacco and numerous others.

Then we got Skoda, and introduced it round Europe then we took on' Banks and airlines, Proctor and Gamble, Unilever, soaps and soups and shampoos, and even Pasta.

We had parties like you wouldn't believe.

"Those glory days have gone" You should have seen all the smiles drop. The light in their eyes noticeably dimming.

"Too old" They said.

Then all the bald heads and grey haired wonders put their brains together and knocked heads.

"What if?" We went digital. OMG. Waaaat.

All of us still working in different spots around the planet. ( We all grew up) If you want to see pictures of us in youth let me know.

Plus we met people. We knew awesome people. Young and old, damn brilliant people, damn good at what they do.

They were every where. (almost)

Sydney, Wellington, Budapest, New York, and remote far distant corners.

So I the smarty pants had said " Let's go digital. Let's get everyone together in one place. A virtual base with one office and network the whole gang."

A new tribe. A creative online tribe and that does stuff. Digital stuff. Really good digital stuff.

The same stuff Ad men ( people) used to to do but not.

Use that strategy, that mind for communication. Many of us had written Television commercials, run billboard campaigns, relabelled entire product lines, designed new packaging for Pepsi for example, done radio campaigns.

We had presented work to boards of companies that had more money than most countries.

We knew that stuff.

The next was a small jump. (of the imagination)

Now the world was interactive and getting more so.

People listen to influencers, they admire people and discuss.

Advertising is a conversation and feedback is instant.

Now the base we had was set.

We had skills.

We can design stuff. Lots of stuff. Photoshop, Indesign, typography, package design, film edit, and it goes on.

We can write stuff: Advertising copy, website copy, News articles, blog posts, many of us earn our living hammering words out for people.

We do social because we are social creatures. An online world where rumours are spread and everyone carries a campaign in their pocket.

We have friends who fly drones in difficult places and safe spaces to make movies, or photographers who do the awesome.

We have special friends who do the technical. The mechanics of marketing and advertising.

Build the Squarespace site for you

SEO, we have people who can make words work for you to get you found. ( plus of course the writers who can create those words)

Facebook advertising. Well there are a million of those experts, and we have a hand selected bunch of them.

A bunch of geniuses whose passion is keeping up with all things Facebook.

The thing is we chose the people for what they are good at.

As when you are good at something it’s easier it’s quicker, and it's funner.
